KING WILLIAM T.E.A. PARTY
The Next King William T.E.A. Party Meetings:
Jul 23, 2020

In view of the many controversies surrounding the county’s 2017 & 2018 budget, rejection of split assessments and other factors, KWTP is exploring solutions for reigning in the creeping growth and expanding cost of government. We hope the Board will prove up to the Task.

Brief updates on local, state and national issues. Come early if possible and see another of the stirring and inspiring videos we've found. The Meetings starts at 6:30PM - so come on in and have a seat. They begin promptly at 6:30 PM and you'll be out by 7:30 PM.
**********************************************************
KWTP continues to take the lead with credible information on a variety of hot-button issues at local, state and national levels.

Wharton's Olivia Mitchell and Leora Friedberg of the University of Virginia discuss the $4.4 trillion public sector pension shortfall.

Not Enough time, Not Enough Money

Sanitation workers, firefighters, teachers and other state and local government employees have performed their duties in the public sector for decades with the understanding that their often lackluster salaries were propped up by excellent benefits, including an ironclad pension. But Moody’s Investors Service recently estimated that public pensions are underfunded by $4.4 trillion. That amount, which is equivalent to the economy of Germany, accounts for one-fifth of national debt. It’s a significant concern for public employees who were banking on a fully funded retirement to get them through their golden years.

Welcome to the King Willam Tea Party Website
"2020 - Past Year"
Page.

******************************************************************

Below are the Events we have had and the ones we have in the works. We want to keep the citizens of
King William County informed of issues on a local, state and national level.

The King William TEA Party is an independent political movement loosely aligned with other local, state and
national TEA Parties. We are a grass roots movement who take our name from a historical act of defiance against
the King of England when Americans thought they were "Taxed Enough Already".

We believe in a return to sound fiscal policy at the federal, state and county level. We believe in Federalism and
the limits of federal power that our founders intended.

The King William Tea Party does not condone nor will it tolerate racism, sexism, or religious intolerance or bigotry
in any form within the ranks of its membership or at any of its sanctioned events.  Such beliefs, attitudes, and
activities are contrary to the basic rights of all humankind as outlined in the Constitution, Bill of Rights, and
Declaration of Independence.

Our goal is for this site to keep you informed of political events, news, and issues that are important to you, the
citizens of King William County Virginia.

Our meetings begin promptly at 6:30 PM with Locations to be Announced.

* King William T.E.A. Party's Meetings & More

It appears Virginia will finally be moving into Phase III.
This is certainly good news, and long overdue! Governor Northam has announced that we are expected to enter Phase III next Wednesday on July 1st, and I wanted to share some information on what that means for us.

“….land values remain level ?

When introducing her recommendations for the upcoming budget, King William County's Administrator noted that the new round of real estate assessments had residential values increasing some 20%, commercial values increase 5-10%, but “land values remain level.

Wait a minute ! Isn’t land a part of both ? Would the reason behind her illogical assertion be to continue giving very generous tax breaks to some of the county's wealthiest landowners while raising taxes on ordinary homeowners and businesses?

What data could the County Administrator be referencing that she based that statement on---and why would she SAY what is clearly not true ?

Key to this deception is the per acre values – $612 ( Forestry ) and $1500 ( Agriculture) – that are special reduced rates only for land in the Land Use Tax Exemption program. This obvious undervaluing can only be corrected/adjusted in the year that a new assessment is underway. And it just so happens to be this year when homeowners are going to get hit with much higher assessments.

In comparing actual King William County LAND Sales for the years 2015, & 2019, facts reveal an inconvenient truth. It should be obvious what drives county officials to continue to mislead citizens on something so vital to a county with a relatively small tax base, and the desire to shield their favored sons from higher taxes:

Vet

Our County Administrator owes the tax paying citizens of King William an E-X-P-L-A-N-A-T-I-O-N. How did she arrive at the assertion that LAND VALUES HAVE REMAINED LEVEL ? Equally important is for home owners and small business owners to understand the cynical tax burden shifting game being run on them by the Board of Supervisors.

Why the Secrecy about Hospital Beds and COVID-19?
Posted on April 28, 2020 by James A. Bacon | 7 Comments

Anyone remember why the country is locked down?

I do.

With images of Italy’s collapsing healthcare system and Italian death panels doling out beds and ventilators in early March, we were told we had to take radical steps so that American hospitals would not be similarly overwhelmed by the COVID-19 virus.

“Fifteen days to slow the spread,” they told us.

And we complied.

Fifteen days became 30, which then became 45 and in some places — like Virginia — the shutdowns have no end in sight.

As you sit at home, worrying about your mental health, your job, your finances and your family do you ever wonder just how many beds are occupied by COVID patients in the hospital nearest you?

Good luck finding out.

Why Illinois Is In Trouble – 109,881 Public Employees With $100,000+ Paychecks Cost Taxpayers $14B
Adam Andrzejewski - Senior Contributor Policy

Illinois could soon be the first state in history to have its bonds rated as “junk.” Last month, both Moody’s MCO and Standard & Poor’s downgraded Illinois debt to just one notch above junk status.

Last week, the Illinois State Senate President Don Harmon (D-Chicago) wrote a letter to Congress requesting a $41.6 billion bailout. Critics balked.

In many ways, Illinois may have already crossed the Rubicon.

Mr. Shannon,
Perhaps you’ve not had the chance to review or were not aware the revised draft budget proposal has been posted on the County website for some time now. I have attached it for your convenience and the URL is: https://kingwilliamcounty.us/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/FY21-Budget-Proposal.pdf. It is based on the County Administrator’s best projections given the circumstances we all face in these trying times. Of particular note:

FY21 Budget KW County Website
or go to : https://kingwilliamcounty.us/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/FY21-Budget-Proposal.pdf

The revised FY2021 budget is projected off of the following scenario:
Calendar Year 2020 to be set by Board in April to remain at $0.86/$100
Calendar Year 2021, to be set by Board in April 2021, calculated at a $0.73/$100 rate. This lines up with the 1% increase per Virginia statute for the reassessment.
Fiscal Year 2021 budget is built off of two separate assessment rates and tax rates:
FY2021 real property will be due in December 2020 at the 2014 assessed rates at $0.86/$100.
FY2021 real property will be due in June 2021 at the 2020 assessed rate at $0.73/$100.

I hope you will use this new information to revise your letter to better address the positive efforts the BOS and our Administrator have been working on under truly unprecedented conditions.

Edwin Moren

Addressees -- Despite KWTP's polite but persistent questioning since March 26th, our esteemed Chairman of the Board of Supervisors and several other county officials haven't bothered to respond.

However, they've finally gotten around to quietly posting the new instructions on the official website https://kingwilliamcounty.us/

Gosh, do you think they're hoping most concerned citizens won't notice?

At any rate, you can bet the "turnout" (virtual) will be more tax trough feeders and fewer advocates of cutting taxes and spending than it should be under established policies, procedures and statutory requirements:

Must Read: National Debt Is $122 Trillion, Not $23 Trillion, Says Non-profit Group
Written by Bob Adelmann

When Epoch Times’ Mark Tapscott checked the U.S. Treasury’s “Debt to the Penny” website on Monday, he reported that the U.S. national debt just ticked over to $23.3 trillion. That’s four times what it was 20 years ago.

Tapscott then checked in with the Chicago-based nonprofit advocacy group Truth in Accounting (TIA) to get a more accurate reading. Said Bill Bergman, the group’s director of research, the Treasury misses the real national debt by $100 trillion, explaining that “the U.S. Treasury does not include the unfunded obligations for Social Security and Medicare.”

The Consequences of Failure
written by Michael Giere December 4, 2019

It’s a new crowd of extremists whose bite will be worse than their bark.

The consequences of political inaction, lack of public outreach, and intellectual timidity always end poorly in politics.

For confirmation, look no further than the Commonwealth of Virginia, where the radical left upended more than two decades of feckless Republican legislative control. The left now owns the top three statewide offices, the House of Delegates and the Senate. (Also, several important county attorney seats were won by extreme-leftists selected and funded by George Soros’ political operations.)

The consequence is that Virginia is now only a month away from taking the first significant steps towards joining it’s corrupt, anti-life, anti-faith, anti-liberty, anti-business, and high tax northeastern neighbors like Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland.

Revolution

It is often said war is when the politicians tell you who your enemies are, and revolution is when you figure it out for yourself.

And right now in Virginia we are in the middle of a new Revolution, one based upon the founding ideas of our Republic and led by the people, not the political class.

The true result of the November 2019 election is not the ‘blue wave’ of power in the General Assembly as Democrats have taken the majority in both Houses, but rather best seen in the town halls, meeting rooms and gun shows where a sleeping giant for liberty has awakened.

And this is not a re-hash of the ‘Resist’ movement the political left has adopted since President Trump’s election, but rather a full scale political revolt. We are not simply playing defense against tyrannical laws, but rather going on the offense to take Virginia back.

One not led by politicians, nor talking heads, nor the establishment, nor political parties or even the media, but rather a movement unlike ever seen before in this century, a true revolution of the people.

Gun-Rights Leader: Virginia ‘Second Amendment Sanctuary’ Movement Just Getting Started

By Stephen Gutowski - November 27, 2019 1:45 PM

The head of the group pushing Virginia counties to refuse to enforce unconstitutional gun laws, declaring themselves "Second Amendment sanctuaries," told the Washington Free Beacon he has seen an unprecedented groundswell of support that he expects to only grow.

When Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL) president Philip Van Cleave spoke with the Free Beacon on Tuesday afternoon, 15 of Virginia's 95 counties had passed sanctuary resolutions; five more joined that night.

Van Cleave said that his group would typically garner up to a hundred people at the General Assembly for past gun bills, but that nearly a thousand showed up to support the sanctuary proposal in rural Bedford County.

State: Virginia General Assembly continues on it's march towards stricter Gun Laws-----where is this headed ? Is the push back from concerned Virginians too little too late ? Which of these new bills are likely to gather enough support in the General Assembly to become law ? The Virginia Supreme Court sided with Governor Northams order making the State Capitol a Gun Free Zone by banning any firearms at today's Rally. This is an ominous sign, and likely headed to the U.S Supreme Court.

Local: I have sent an e-mail inquiring as to the reported purchase of 4 properties by King William County. The County Administrator suggested in her statements that some county functions had outgrown their space, or words to that effect. When they have the money......they are going to spend it, and in GRAND STYLE. Just what is the County Administrator and this new BOS up to ?

How does this square with the 1st Amendment's guarantee of Freedom of Assembly?

Meanwhile, the politicians and the poltroons who prop them up for personal gain are delighted that the angry peasants are penned up in their overtaxed shantys.

Ah, but we have the internet to learn what they're up to and then speak truth to power. As such, here's some of what we all need to know:

KING WILLIAM: As required by law, the county has publicly posted its plans for a wild tax and spend binge in 2020-2021. Never mind that America's economy is crashing. See it for yourself at

https://kingwilliamcounty.us/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/FY-2021-COUNTY-ADMINISTRATOR---S-BUDGET-PRESENTATION-3.23.2020-Corrected-3.19.2020-1.pdf

Conveniently, the scheduled Board of Supervisors (BoS) meeting for Mar 3rd was CANCELED and it's a darn good bet that the LAST Budget Public Comment meeting, previously scheduled for April 6th will be CANCELLED too:

But hey, you can submit your opinions in writing. And the poobahs at Horse Landing Road promise to take them seriously before voting in the coming weeks.... By mail to 180 Horse Landing Rd. #4, King William, VA 23086; by FAX to 804-769-4968; or email to countyadmin@kingwilliamcounty.us

BREAKING NEWS: We just got this from KW's County Administrator:

The FY2021 budget will be brought to the public to the very best of our ability during this challenging time. We will definitely comply with statute and solicit input from the community whenever and however possible.

Be sure to read KWTP's paid ad in the COUNTRY COURIER's April 1st issue (no foolin'). It has some inconvenient truths and several tough questions to ask the Board's Three Budget Stooges and the two newcomers. Remember that Mr. Moren (Mangohick Dist.) campaigned on CUTTING taxes?

STATE: In Richmond, the arrogant Democrat Carpetbagger majority, aided by some Republican Scalawags, succeeded in setting fire to our Commonwealth's few remaining conservative principles. How bad is it? You ain't seen nothin' yet:

The Virginia General Assembly passed bills to raise the minimum wage, let local governments remove Confederate statues, transform the energy landscape in response to climate change and grant legal driving privileges to undocumented immigrants. And that was just Tuesday.

Only for those with strong of stomachs: https://leg1.state.va.us/

NATIONAL: President Trump continues efforts to reform government despite vicious opposition of the Deep State and the Wuhan Woes/Chinese Virus crisis. Most everyone is watching the “news” so we don't need to go into any detail except to ask What happens next?

KWTP in Local Newspapers

All of our local papers have been supportive by printing our meeting announcements, news releases, letters to the editor,
and often their own reporting on our events. While such coverage should not be taken as an endorsement of KWTP's goals and
objectives, it is an important community service that keeps citizens informed. Please make it a point to email or call to say
'thanks!'
